About the Climate
and Preparation

What is the climate like in Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego?

The climate in Tierra del Fuego is famously unpredictable; it is possible to experience sun, rain, and wind all in a single day. The rains are rarely torrential. In summer, average temperatures are around 10°C (with variations between 5°C and 15°C), while in winter they are usually close to 0°C. The key to enjoying your trip is to be well-prepared.

What clothing should I wear for the excursions?

Dressing in layers, or the "onion method" is essential to adapt to changing weather conditions and physical activity.

  • Layers: Wear several thin garments that allow you to easily regulate your body temperature.
  • Footwear: This is the highest priority. Your footwear must be waterproof or offer robust protection for wet, muddy, or snowy terrain.
  • Jacket: Indispensable. A waterproof or water-resistant jacket will effectively protect you from wind and rain.
What personal equipment should I bring?

For your comfort and safety, we recommend the following equipment:

  • Thermal undergarments (shirt and leggings, especially if you are sensitive to the cold).
  • Comfortable long pants for trekking.
  • Waterproof trekking boots, suitable for mountainous terrain.
  • A fleece or microfleece jacket/sweatshirt.
  • A rain/windproof jacket (ideal: Gore-tex or softshell).
  • A warm hat and neck warmer (buff); gloves.
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen.
  • Sustainability: We invite you to bring your own reusable bottle; we will have water to refill it to reduce the use of disposable plastics.
  • For Canoeing: An extra pair of socks, in case the excursion includes this activity.
Are activities suspended due to rain or bad weather?

In Tierra del Fuego, unstable weather is part of the experience. Our excursions are not suspended due to rain, as the precipitation is not usually torrential. The key to enjoying the day, regardless of the weather, is to have the right clothing, especially waterproof footwear and a jacket. A walk in the rain can be an unforgettable experience!

Important: In the event that passengers are not physically fit to undertake the excursion, the guide considers that it is not safe for them to go there for this reason or due to lack of suitable clothing, the excursion will be canceled and no refund will be given.

About the
Activities

What is the experience like canoeing at the End of the World?

Canoeing is a low-physical-demand activity, although the intensity can vary with the wind. It is suitable for children from 5 years old and for any adult without mobility restrictions, always under the direction of our expert guides. We provide the necessary equipment: rubber boots, over-trousers, and life vests.

Cameras and Cell Phones: You can bring them during the paddle. It is recommended to use compact cameras or cell phones that can be easily stored for protection from the rain. The use of large photographic equipment is not advised.

Does the Isla Gable canoeing excursion include a motorboat ride?

Yes, the full-day excursion to Isla Gable combines both activities. The canoe paddle is done in the morning, and the trip to Isla Martillo (the penguin colony) is done in a covered, semi-rigid motorboat.

What is the difference between the two Beagle Channel navigations (yacht vs. catamaran)?

Both options travel the same route through the Beagle Channel, but they differ in the vessel and duration:

  • Yacht: A small boat (up to 26 passengers), with a duration of 4 hours. It offers a more intimate experience.
  • Catamaran: A larger vessel (between 60 and 100 people), with a duration of 3 hours. It is ideal for those who enjoy a navigation with less movement.

Both alternatives include an approximately 15-minute stop on Bridges Island, subject to weather conditions.

Additional Information
and Restrictions

Are there restrictions for pregnant passengers?

We do not apply direct restrictions, but it is essential for the passenger to consult their doctor before participating. Each pregnancy and stage are unique, so the final decision should be made in consultation with a healthcare professional. To facilitate this evaluation, we can detail the characteristics of our excursions:

  • Treks: On terrain that can be slippery, with snow or ice in winter.
  • Off-Road Circuit: The vehicle can experience abrupt movements. On regular services, it is not possible to avoid the off-road section to reach the shelter.
  • Canoe Paddle: Estimated duration of 1 to 2 hours, depending on the tour.
  • Location: The areas are rugged and far from urban centers. The nearest health center may be a 1-3 hour trip away.

We are available to provide more details to allow for an informed decision with your doctor.

What vehicles are used for the excursions?

For the Lakes Off-Road excursion, we use Toyota SW4. For the rest of our excursions, we use vans or minibuses, ensuring comfort and safety.

What is served for lunch on the excursions?

Each excursion has an exclusive menu, designed by our Chef according to the conditions and the location where the meal is served. The specific menu details are available in the description of each tour.

What time will you pick up passengers at the hotel?

The start and end times of each excursion are detailed in their respective descriptions, offering an approximate idea of the pick-up time.

  • Regular Excursions: The exact pick-up time is communicated to the passenger or the hotel the afternoon before the tour.
  • Private Services: The time is coordinated directly with the passengers the night before. If we cannot contact the passenger, we will leave a message at the hotel with an established time, seeking the greatest convenience based on the excursion and weather conditions.
