At Canal, our commitment transcends navigation and adventure. We work actively to ensure that every journey to Tierra del Fuego is a sustainable experience that generates a real positive impact on our environment. Our actions focus on responsible management, the reduction of our footprint, and the fostering of a culture of deep respect toward nature and the local community.

Thanks to this sustained effort, we have been recognized by the National Ministry of Environment as a company committed to sustainable development. We also proudly carry the Biosphere Committed insignia, a seal that underscores our path toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We continue to move forward because understanding the end of the world is, above all, learning how to preserve it.

Waste Management and Resource Consumption

Our goal is to minimize our environmental impact through responsible consumption practices.

Paper Reduction: We have implemented measures to reduce paper use in all our operations, from reusing paper to using whiteboards instead of printed signs to welcome our guests.
Sustainable Purchasing: We have developed a Sustainable Purchasing Manual that guides us in the acquisition of plastic items, office supplies, electrical appliances, and in the selection of recycled and FSC-certified paper.
Waste Management: We operate a differentiated waste management system in all our offices. In an alliance with the KAUX Cooperative, we ensure that recyclable materials are properly managed and reincorporated into the production cycle.
Eliminating Single-Use Plastics: We have minimized the purchase of disposable plastic bottles, opting for reusable containers to significantly reduce the generation of plastic waste.
Energy Efficiency: We evaluate our consumption of energy, gas, and water to design strategies that optimize their use and reduce waste in all our operations.

Carbon Footprint Compensation

We are aware of the environmental impact of tourism and are committed to managing it responsibly. That is why we have calculated the carbon footprint of each excursion and set out to create concrete actions to offset it. We found the perfect ally in Amigos de la Patagonia; this organization actively works on native forest restoration and environmental education programs. Together with them, we have established a strategic alliance, and we donate a tree for every vehicle that sets out on an Off-Road tour to Lakes Escondido and Fagnano. In this way, every Lagos Off-Road with Canal expedition supports direct actions to restore and care for native ecosystems.

However, our commitment transcends direct action and adapts to the needs of those who trust us with their travelers. For groups looking for a souvenir or corporate gift that truly leaves a mark, we offer an exclusive and meaningful proposal: the perfect combination of environmental awareness and a tangible memory. In addition to tree sponsorship in Patagonia, we will deliver a small bag with Fuegian soil and native seeds to each passenger in the group. This way, each participant not only takes home a tangible memory of their trip, but also a symbol of life that, as it grows, will remind them of the experiences lived and the positive legacy generated together in our beloved Tierra del Fuego.

Social Responsibility and Alliances

Community and Diversity: We have established cooperative ties with the Jesús María Community Center in Chaco, supporting social development. Additionally, we are part of the Argentinian Network of Professionals and Businesses committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, which reaffirms our commitment to an inclusive environment in the tourism sector.

Circular Economy: In collaboration with the Association of Tourism Professionals and the local company Vinisa Fueguina, we reuse discarded bottle preforms to turn them into cigarette butt receptacles. These are given for free to our passengers, helping to keep the trails of Ushuaia free of waste.

Cooperation and Sustainability: We participate in the Program of Sustainability Guidelines for Tourism Organizations. This program has allowed us to share our best practices in waste reduction and conservation while we learn from other companies to perfect our approach and continue advancing towards more responsible tourism.
